About Suffolk and Norfolk SCITT
Why train with Suffolk and Norfolk School Centred Initial Teacher Training?
Teaching can be one of the most exciting, rewarding and challenging careers you can choose.
Suffolk and Norfolk School Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT) is a well established school based teacher training programme with twenty years of experience of training teachers for employment in a wide range of schools.
We are the largest SCITT in the country as we train over 250 trainees across all of our training routes. We are well regarded by local schools across Suffolk and Norfolk which is demonstrated by the number of schools which offer training placements and employ our trainees as newly qualified teachers.
We offer a Post Graduate Certificate in Education, 60 Masters credits and Qualified Teacher Status on all of our routes into teaching in partnership with the University of Suffolk. Suffolk and Norfolk SCITT programmes have all been judged to be at least Good or Outstanding by Ofsted (May 2013). Our training routes are currently:
- Primary Tuition (full time)
- Secondary Tuition (full time)
- Secondary Tuition (part time)
- Primary Salaried (full time)
- Secondary Salaried (full time)
- Secondary Salaried (part time)
- Assessment Only (suitable for trainees with considerable school experience)
Guidance and strong support for you while you train is central to all of our teacher training programmes as we know that training to become a teacher is not easy. As a trainee you are allocated a SCITT Tutor as all well as a School Mentor for the duration of your training and this ensures, as one trainee explained it this year, 'There is not just one safety net but a selection of them so never at any time, no matter how difficult I found any particular week, did I ever feel that I could not do it not make it.'
If you wish to make an application or have any further questions about what is involved in becoming a teacher then look through the pages on this website and ring or email us from the details on the Contact page and we will happily help you. We also hold regular recruitment information evenings throughout Suffolk and Norfolk which are advertised on our Events pages so book a free place and come along to meet us and discuss in person any questions you might have.
We would love to meet you.
